If you do not have a prior ADHD diagnosis, our initial assessment process includes two video sessions with a clinical psychologist. Each session lasts about an hour, with 45-50 minutes dedicated to discussing your symptoms and concerns, and additional time for the psychologist to complete their notes.
Assessment process:
- Part 1: Begin with an in-depth evaluation to understand your symptoms and concerns.
- Part 2: Follow up with a second assessment to confirm your diagnosis and discuss next steps.
- After completing the assessments, you will receive a detailed diagnostic report, which is also sent to your GP. This report includes any diagnosis and recommended treatment.
Next steps:
- If diagnosed with ADHD: If you wish to discuss medication options, you can schedule a medication review consultation with a consultant psychiatrist.
Important notes:
- Diagnostic reports may take up to four weeks to be issued after the second assessment.
- Medication reviews should be scheduled only after receiving your diagnostic report, with appointments set a minimum of two weeks apart.
- Ongoing monitoring reviews are conducted by a consultant psychiatrist or advanced nurse practitioner to ensure treatment effectiveness.

- Please ensure you upload or email your diagnostic report and referral letter from your GP when booking.
- You must be seen for a follow-up appointment:

Yes, our psychiatrists and advanced nurse practitioners can prescribe medication where appropriate. However, they can only prescribe medication after you've completed a diagnostic assessment and physical examination with your GP – which includes a cardiovascular examination, heart rate and blood pressure check – to make sure that you’ve no underlying issues.
We'll write to your GP advising them of the outcome of your assessment, and request details of your physical examination, which you’ll need to schedule with your GP following your assessment.
Individuals who have completed the assessment process and have a confirmed diagnosis of ADHD can book a medication review appointment to discuss medication.
Your initial medication review appointment will be with a consultant psychiatrist. If medication is deemed appropriate, initially a two-week prescription is issued with another medication review appointment then needed to assess progress and discuss next steps.
It can vary and will depend on your response to the medication. Sometimes multiple medications need to be trialled in order to find the one most suitable for you.
As a guide, you'll need a follow-up appointment with us:
- Two weeks after you start taking medication
- After a six-week trial of an appropriate medication
- Every four months thereafter
You'll also need a physical check-up with your GP every six months if you're taking ADHD medication.
Medication review appointments can last up to 30 minutes and can be booked via our website.
Limited referral acceptance:
- We do not accept referrals from online GPs.
- All referrals must include mental health and medical history or state "NIL" if not relevant.
- Additionally, we cannot offer assessments to individuals under the care of another psychiatrist or Community Mental Health Team (CMHT).
Restrictions related to substance use and medication revisions:
- We cannot accept patients with current or recent drug or alcohol misuse.
- Tests may be requested from your GP to confirm this.
- In the event of drug shortages, revising medication can take up to five working days.
- Medication reviews must be booked in some instances to release your prescription, and you will be notified by the clinical admin team if this is necessary.
Communication with others on my behalf:
- We are unable to provide information or discuss your case with anyone other than you.
- All communication and service details are strictly confidential and are handled directly with the patient only.
- Stimulant medication can only be prescribed monthly, requiring five working days' notice for renewals.
- NEW: You can now request your repeat prescriptions through our online system.
